Prosoniq RayVerb Using a sampled impulse response to re-create an existing acoustic space through convolution is convenient and easy. But what if you wish to alter that room - have a sound source move about the scenery or change your listening position? Like with sampled instruments - once the impulse is sampled, its sound is written in stone - forever. Prosoniq now has a new and unique technology to change all that: The Prosoniq Rayverb is the world's first reverberation created using inverse raytracing. Raytracing is a technique used in the generation of computer generated imagery (CGI) to create reflective surfaces by tracing the beams of light that are bouncing off the objects in a scene. Inverse raytracing as used in audio processing is the process of estimating the shape, material and topology of a room by examining its impulse response. Simply put: inverse raytracing looks at a sampled room impulse response and adapts a general room model to reproduce your particular sonic space. Not only does this capture your acoustic space with ultimate clarity - it also allows for slight as well as dramatic changes! Only with Rayverb you can change the position of your sound source within the room, change the material of the walls, apply material from a different ambience or even alter the proportions of the room, all in realtime. A compilation of sample room models is included, both as internal models and as sampled impulse responses so you can start working without delay. Sampled impulse responses can be imported as audio files so you can use the vast database of impulse responses available on the internet. But what's more. Rayverb comes fully loaded. Not only does it let you access a room from its sampled room response - it allows for blending two entirely different sonic spaces. All in realtime from inside your favorite host application. A convenient "Export Impulse Response" function lets you export the resulting impulse response from the modelled room to re-use it in other programs - no tedious impulse response sampling, tweaking and cutting is necessary.
